| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Elliott Yamin's debut is so agreeable and well-executed it may well convert hardened R&B experts--the kind who'd normally distance themselves from a disc with a TV pedigree. With sincerity and a voice that vaults itself to places no talent-show contestant should be able to go, Yamin bares his soul here in a way that would do his hero, Donny Hathaway, proud. Tracks like "Take My Breath Away" and "You Are the One" find him twisting a wrench around love-stained lyrics; "I'm the Man" and "Find A Way" flow with hat-in-hand grace (and, in the case of the latter, a scat worthy of a vintage jazz stage); and opener "Movin' On" immortalizes the season five judges'-table words of Paula Abdul: Ellliott Yamin is "one funky white boy." As he proves with this five-star album, he is also among the most gifted artists ever to a turn a stint on the show into a recording career. --Tammy La Gorce

surprisingly excellent June 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite CDs to listen to, much to my surprise. I purchased a small stack of CDs at once and this was among them. I cannot seem to get to listening to the others, because I keep listening to this one.
Every single song is NICE or better. There have not been many CDs in my life which I enjoy listening to so consistently or without passing a song up. Thanks, Elliott. A great beginning, and I will be watching for your future work.
A Great Voice; Unique May 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Who would've known Elliott would made an album like this? This album absolutly blew me out of the water when I first heard "Wait for you". One word, take my breath away, etc. 100% great. Not that average beautiful voice. He has that unique beautiful voice. You can't find a sound alike.
So beautiful, you'll cry. May 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The tones of Elliott's voice are gorgeous. I always thought so, I don't know what took me so long to finally buy this. At least I finally have it. If you have already have a favorite song, having Elliott sing it makes it heavenly. Luckily one of my favorites is on here... Well, several really. Get it and you may find you have a new favorite.
A must buy!!! April 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Elliott Yamin is proof that you don't need to be an actual AI "winner" to be a WINNER! I am honestly and terribly picky when it comes to buying new cds as one has to pass my test first (need to be an actual singer-songwriter, have a strong voice, yada yada yada) and I am also a "late to the game" Elliott Fan but MAN! is this man AWESOME! Soulful, heartfelt, he is the real deal and he deserves every bit of recognition he gets! Go out and BUY HIS CD - you will NOT be disappointed!!!
Okay, not fabulous. April 28, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Elliott was my favorite American Idol contestant the season he competed; I really enjoyed watching and listening to his performances (snaggly teeth or not!). There's something missing from this CD -- the watching part. He's certainly not the best-looking man (sorry Elliott), but he didn't just sing a song, he lived the song and convinced me he meant every word. As just a listener, I'm less involved in the music than I was when I could see him perform. I decided to buy this CD after his performance on this season's American Idol elimination night; his mom had recently passed away and my way of mourning his loss was to buy his music. If he releases a music DVD, I will buy it.
