Choose the Italian version December 21, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The changes made for the American version of this soundtrack have been detailed in other reviews, so I won't repeat them. However, it is worth noting that "Lost Boys Calling" was rerecorded for the American version. Eddie Vedder does not appear on the original Italian version, and the vocals are less melodramatic (both good things, at least where this song is concerned). It's a great song, but ruined in the domestic release. Import it!
great movie good soundtrack September 10, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
the movie was really well done and the soundtrack is really great to listen to while relaxing and as a nice backdrop to working.
Incredible April 30, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
No one can do music like Ennio Morricone. Ever since his score for The Mission, Ive been a fan. But I didnt know it was him until I was searching for the score of Cinema Paradiso, the best Italian film Ive ever seen. Not all these songs on this cd is by Ennio, but most of it is his. He is one of the best, and Guiseppe Tornatore is one of the best directors out there. In the movie in fact, there is a scene that explains how the music and film go together and form an incredible dance, painting so many perfect portraits. Ennio and Guiseppe make a perfect team.
INSPIRED! April 6, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ennio Morricone's music for this film is stunning. It is as important a character as the one played by Tim Roth. There is truly magic in the work and collaboration of Maestro Morricone and the great director Giuseppe Tornatore. Here, the Maestro captures all the feel and the excitement of the new jazz that was emerging in the time period. Of course, piano is the featured instrument, although most of the pieces are fully scored and orchestral. The piano playing is unparalleled. The number of selections and total listening time are very generous; the sound is excellent. Lovers of early jazz and ragtime, take heed!
LEGGENDA DEL PIANISTA SULL'OCEANO, LA Is the way to go. January 24, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The person who recommended LEGGENDA DEL PIANISTA SULL'OCEANO, LA was so helpful. I too wanted all tracks rather than the 21 offered through Amazon. The website was not very friendly to those of us who do not speak (read) Italian, but if I can flounder my way through it, anyone can. This soundtrack and movie are OUTSTANDING. For the person who found it to be a boring movie, my only recommendation is, Don't listen to him. It was a rare movie, and well worth the time, especially if you enjoy good music.
