5 out of 5 stars Excellent Movie + Soundtrack   January 3, 2005

This soundtrack is the greatest soundtrack ever. This has some of the greatest piano songs ever. It can make you laugh, cry, get all serious, or feel very relaxed. With works from Scott Joplin, The Father of Ragtime, and Ferdinand LeMenthe aka Jellyroll Morton, The Father of Jazz, this soundtrack is excellent. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes music.

4 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack, but if you want the full version...   May 14, 2003

This "Legend of 1900" Soundtrack isn't the version with the entire soundtrack on it. Some of the best pieces weren't included in this non-Italian version, which has 29 songs. It's missing (among others) "Magic Waltz" (the song he plays for his seasick friend with the waves crashing outside) and "Enduring Movement" (the piece that won the contest with Jelly Roll Morton). br /br /Go to intermezzomedia.com. Once there, you'll have to search by Composer for "Morricone", and scan through the many pages of his until you get to "La Leggenda del Pianista sull'Oceano". br /br /The company is from Italy but the site has English (as well as their confirmation emails). If you decide to buy it, the e-commerce bank they use for purchases is all in Italian, so I'd suggest going to freetranslation.com - that site does a decent job of translating the Italian phrases you enter into English. I bought from Intermezzomedia and didn't have any problems, got the CD just a few days later (using FedEx, which was a bit expensive but nice to have the tracking capabilities). The Italian version is awesome. I would NOT recommend buying the U.S. version...sorry Amazon but you really should also sell the Italian one.

4 out of 5 stars Legend of 1900   March 20, 2003

I thoroughly enjoyed The Legend of 1900. As a former piano player, I was intrigued by the story. It was told so beautifully. I would like to know where I may purchase the sheet music for the piano of Lost Boys Calling. Does anyone know?

4 out of 5 stars Best song missing!   March 16, 2003
There are great songs on this CD and Mr. Morricone deserved any and all awards for "Lost Boys Calling" but the song where 1900 helps the new hornblower deal with his seasickness is WONDERFUL but is NOT on the soundtrack; otherwise this is a great CD and an even better movie.

5 out of 5 stars Wanderful Heartache   September 14, 2002

I had orginally intended to buy this CD only for track 16, "Playing Love", which , to me is the best and most romentically touching piano sonata I've ever heard. But after I had bought the album, it grew on me and I became absolutely hooked such that I had to listenned to it over and over again. This is a recording that I'd recommend to anyone who is truely romantic at heart. I was intreque the first time I saw the movie, compelled the 2nd time. DVD is definately worth keeping, but if you value good music, buy the CD and cry.
