A down to earth review May 5, 2000 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have never heard of Ennio Morricone and did not buy the album for Eddie or as a Pink Floyd fan...I saw the movie on a flight and loved the music. If you are someone who likes a great mixture of classical and new orleans jazz and are fond of the piano you will like this soundtrack. Sure, the last song sounds like it belongs on another soundtrack but why would you want a soundtrack where EVERYTHING sounds the same? It's still a good song. I don't have anything fancy to say about it, it's just a really neat compilation of songs that play on many different emotions. Maybe if you saw the movie you'd understand better but I don't think so...the music speaks for itself.
Golden Globe well deserved April 24, 2000 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Unmistakeably Morricone, this is a real keeper. Track 3--The Crisis--is hypnotic, and many of the other tracks are old-fashioned and beautifully lush. But what-oh-what is with that tepid Last Boys Calling song? Calling Eddy Van Halen Edward on the liner notes does not this a noble addition make nor make it worth a score cut.
roger does it again February 4, 2000 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
Roger Water throws us another day of relaxation. His work on this album along with that of Eddy are a complete through back to the days of Pink Floyd. If I were to close my eyes and listen to this album I would think that it was an original make of Roger and David. Wow! You must get this album to complete your Floyd collection. However walk into any store and ask for the Roger Waters section and the 15 year old pimples will say "what kind of music is that?". So you'll have to find this one on your own if your not buying it here.
Just amazing January 31, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Once again Ennio Morricone gives us an incredible masterpiece. Every song can touch your heart in a different way. Every minute is inspired and when I had the pleasure to listen to this beautiful soundtrack I was amazed. It is a must buy soundtrack.
Grippingly sensual January 28, 2000 When the soundtrack for "The Legend of 1900" won the Golden Globe in its repective category, I was practically cheering. It's a really awesome soundtrack, and it swept me off my feet. The music is simply beautiful and passionate, grippingly sensual, and, in a way, poetic. The music touched my heart, and its luminous billiance is obvious.
