Elliott is a winner! Great songs and I love his style of singing....jazzy.....and I could understand every word he is singing!
I don't know man, but it I think this is something truelly special August 20, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have not heard this album, but I have heard the special yahoo bonus track on youtube "Sharing the Night Together" which is an old 70's tune and the new song "Wait For You" and I am really blown away how incredible each song and performance come across. Man i don't know, but it really seems like i am hearing something very special so don't waist your time buying this album as even if the album as a whole fall's short it easily should be well worth encouraging this artist to grow as if this is just the beginning then we are in for a great musical journey from Elliot and everyone associated with him.
  4-1/2 stars -- A well-polished debut August 15, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you want to make a name for yourself in the music industry, and especially if you want to be on American Idol, I guess some people wouldn't expect a partially deaf 29-year-old to make the grade. And even though Elliott Yamin came in third place, it doesn't matter because his self-titled debut album is damn good.br /br /As soon as the album's opener "Movin' On" comes on, you'll know you're in for a treat. From there, you'll find other notables like "Train Wreck", the funky "Alright", and "Take My Breath Away". No, the latter isn't a cover of the Berlin song; in fact, contrary to how debut Idol albums are usually structured, the only remake on here is Leon Russell's "A Song For You", which is another standout.br /br /Elliott even does well with otherwise played-out topics, like the keep-your-head-up vibe of "Free" and the anti-war song "Find a Way". And YOU should find a way to your nearest record store to pick up this album; you won't regret the purchase.br /br /Anthony Rupert
Amazing! August 12, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful

I know he can do better August 10, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
There are a few songs on this album that are very good, enjoyable to hear over and over and live (he does a dynamic live show) - but then there are some that are utterly ho-hum and dull. I'd say it's 40/60 in favor of ho-hum...but I love his voice and know that there has to be someone out there who can produce this stellar talent well. Will keep waiting, worth having for those few really good tunes, the others fade away.
