A Simply amazing album with a wide range February 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a stunning album to come out as a 'first time' try. With such a wide range of sounds from rb, to skatt, to dance/club tracks - you get a bit of everything. And regardless of what 'style' music you prefer ... you'll love it all.
This young man can blow! January 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought Elliott was hands-down the strongest pure vocalist for that Idol season and one of the most consistent Idol singers regardless of years. br /br /It is great to get to hear his recorded offering to hear the richness of his voice and his inventiveness. He seemed to each week pick the songs that were the most harmonically complex, and nailed each one. Donny, Stevie, Benson, it made no difference. I'm a jazz musician, and when this kid did Moody's Mood for Love and sang it FOR REAL, I told my wife, this kid can blow! br /br /This album has only bolstered that assessment. I look forward to the next offering and hope that good songwriters can be found that will highlight this man's magnificent instrument. I especially liked, Heaven Help us All. Go head Elliot!
Promising debut album January 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Elliott and Chris Daughtry were my favorites on American Idol's season five. I can't believe that neither of them won. In this time of the Idol-lites (Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, Ruben, etc.) being dropped by their record labels, to hear someone like Elliott who has the potential to be a real artist is refreshing. The album is okay, there are a few good cuts ("Wait For You," "I'm the Man," and "A Song For You" come to mind) surrounded by a lot of pleasant filler. This guy has the vocal talent to produce really great work. Here's hoping that he doesn't become part of the pop-machine that chewed up and spit out the others. He's on the right track with this album, even if he's not all the way there yet. He's young and he is at the start of a very promising career.
Loving Elliot! January 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my roomate. He got a chance to listen to the whole CD today. He LOVES it! He loves Elliot's soulful voice and the writing/prduction is impressive. There isn't one track he doesn't like and totally suggests you grab a copy of it!

This is a very soulful and jazzy cd. It's a love story put to song. I love the entire cd.
