The service was great, and the delivery time was excellent. I am very pleased with this product, and the professional way that it was handled. Thank you so much for that.
Only One Downside - Missing a Small Scene July 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I remember watching this on TV, my mother recorded for me on VHS (how archaic!) and I watched it over and over until I had every line memorized. Then, when my father bought the VHS from the movie store I was told by the clerk that a few scenes were missing from the packaged version. He was partly right, there is only one scene that is missing and it is how Merlin escapes from Mab. The Lady of the Lake speaks to him while he's in Mab's lair and then you see a boat come into the lair which Merlin climbs into. Then you see it gently sail over the lake.br /br /I am kinda sad that this scene was cut, but it doesn't really hurt the plot line too much. Anyway, the missing scene is why it only gets four stars.
Things that Legends are Made of. July 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a lover of fantasy or in this case legends, I have enjoyed the tales of King Arthur and Merlin over the years, whether watching a movie or reading a book about the subject. Overall I enjoyed this version of the legend, and the DVD was of good quality. I'm not a critic of movies or editing, they should of done this or done that I don't know, I simply enjoyed the tale.
THE MAGIC OF DVD June 1, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The movie is amazing i could watch it agian agian its amazing and now a magical dvd set just makes better. I first saw the movie when I was 6 years old and now I am 13.AND I STILL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still the best, but why calling it Special Edition? May 10, 2007 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
There is nothing on this disc, that was not already in the previous one.br /br /Nothing except perhaps the Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Stereo sound, which in the previous appearance had been reduced to a simple 2.0 Channel Stereo sound.br /br /The specials are the very same you had before.br /br /The screen ratio remains the classic TV 1.33:1 ratio screen resolution, which can be "expanded" to Full Screen, but watching the actual filming of the movie in the Making of, I seemed to have recognized a Panaflex camera moving around, hence it could have been transferred either in 1.78:1 or even in a matted 1.85:1 screen ratio as well.br /br /But perhaps they already lost that copy.br /br /Anyway, the acting by everyone involved in this project is magnificent and involving. Sam Neill, Martin Short, Miranda Richardson and Helena Bonham-Carter, without forgetting brief appearances by Rutger Hauer and John Gielgud give their very best and seem to truly have fun playing their respective roles.br /br /The story flows and grips you from the very first shot, to the very last, without ever becoming too obvious or boring.br /br /The special effects for a TV Movie of that era (late Nineties) are exceptional and very well interwoven within the story, without ever becoming overbearing on the plot.br /br /This is the true Family Movie everyone should have. It has fun moments, dramatic moments and even magical moments for everyone to enjoy.br /br /If this movie had been made to be shown in movie theaters, I am sure it would have won an Oscar for best leading Actor (Sam Neill as Merlin) and also best supporting Actress (Miranda Richardson in her double role as Mab, Queen of the Old Ways and as the Lady of the Lake).br /br /I can highly recommend it in the present format.
