  Oo-de-lally! November 13, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! After all this time, Disney FINALLY decides to release one of my most favorite films to special edition DVD. This film is in WIDESCREEN (Yes, Widescreen Format!; 1.75:1, in case you didn't know!) FORMAT and 5.1 SURROUND SOUND! This makes me so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!br /br /Of course, this film tells the story of the infamous outlaw who robbed from the rich to feed the poor, except now they use the animal kingdom to tell the story of what REALLY happened in Sherwood Forest! This film features an all-star cast including the voice talents of Brian Bedford (Grand Prix, Nixon, A Musical Christmas Carol), Monica Evans (The Odd Couple TV Series, The Aristocats), Phil Harris (The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, Rock-A-Doodle), the late Sir Peter Ustinov (Blackbeard's Ghost, Quo Vadis), Terry Thomas (Tom Thumb), Carole Shelley (Wicked, Bewitched, The Aristocats, The Odd Couple TV Series), Roger Miller ("King of the Road", Nestor, the Long Eared Donkey), Pat Buttram (Green Acres, The Aristocats, The Rescuers), and many more!br /br /I sadly agree with the reviewer who said there is no special feature concerning a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this movie, or any other special feature that would prove beneficiary to this DVD release. However, this edition may pave way for a Platinum Edition DVD in the near future, as did some of the Disney DVDs did recently (Peter Pan, Toy Story 1 2, Lady and the Tramp, etc.)br /br /This is one of the most beloved Disney classics that has been unfortunately ignored in the public eye, so don't IGNORE this film, and buy Robin Hood: Most Wanted Edition DVD today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does this have a good picture transfer? November 10, 2006 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
Does anyone know if this edition of "Robin Hood" will have a good picture transfer. I was disappointed with "The Fox and the Hound". Disney is really getting lazy will that; first they release "Tarzan" as a single disc then "The Fox and the Hound" gets a crappy picture transfer. What's next release movies without any features? I've seen the movie before so it gets 4 stars.
Movie is Great But is Disney pumping the well Dry? October 19, 2006 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
I think the use of a special edition for this DVD is a strecth... I doubt we even get the original trailers or a re-issue one for the film. No sign of a making of... anythign cool like that.. we will prob get a bunch of silly "child" games which are filler and a waste of time. They should use that for a making of. I hope the 1.33:1 full frame for this film is the theatrical aspect ratio for this film. Rescuers has it at 1.66:1 so we may be getting conned with this release and the re-issue of the Fox and the Hound.
Why can't this get a Platinum Edition? October 15, 2006 Sure, maybe it's not among the most popular of Disney movies (although it's one of my favorites). But seriously, it's so much fun! It would be even more fun if it had better bonus features (and more of them). I was tempted to buy it even though I have it on video and the DVD version of it that's been released already...that is, until I saw the lackluster bonus features included. An alternate ending? I doubt it would be worth buying this DVD just for that. That's pretty much all that's new here. The animated short might be good (I can't say for sure whether or not it's been released already). I might rent the DVD to see the new stuff, and to see if the picture's any better.br /I'll wait and see if Disney decides to milk this movie for all it's worth and make a Special Edition for it in the years to come. But I'm not holding my breath.
Great movie October 2, 2006 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This isn't the best Disney movie of course, but it is a fun great story. As a kid this was the one I always wanted to watch because it never got old. Now as an adult, it has a special place in my heart.
