Good movie from the fluff decade May 27, 2000 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
Disney's version of Robin Hood comes from the era when Disney did miserably. Time has great healing properties, though, and since this movie is now a classic, it's easy to see it for what it is--a royal treat. As in Aristocats, the animation is not all there. The movie is also of a somewhat low energy, and there's quite a bit of bad recycling. Look past that, however, and you'll find a movie that's a treat for the whole family. It's funny. It's a classic tale of doing what's right. It has a fair amount of love and romance. How can you go wrong? The oscar nominated song "Love", along with the accompanying scene, will touch your heart. It's true that Robin Hood is not one of the greats and is not as heartwarming as some, but to say that this movie has no heart is terribly wrong. Enjoy this movie. It hints at better things to come. If you're into foxes, however, I recommend The Fox and the Hound. It has a better story, better animation, and it is also very heartwarming.
The Story of Robin Hood is much better! May 4, 2000 2 out of 17 found this review helpful
I liked this as a child, but it's really one of Disney's weaker animated films and lacks a lot of the attention to detail that sets apart the studio's real Classics. Some of the scenes look like actual tracings from other movies (the scene where Maid Marian is dancing with the animals - it's Snow White and the Dwarfs down to every move!). I recently rented Disney's live action "The Story of Robin Hood" and was so impressed I went out and bought the video - great film full of excitement and suspence. It also explained the whole legend of Robin Hood better and gave the characters a bit more depth. This animated version is only so-so.
My favorite disney flick April 18, 2000 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Robin Hood is definitely my favorite Disney film. The songs are absolutely infectious. My brother and I wore out this tape when we were younger!
Definatly a 70's flick November 5, 1999 This is a GREAT movie. But if you listen to most of the chase sceanes you can tell this movie was made in the 70's era. Anyway I have loved this movie since I was 4. And I love to this day!
A riot from beginning to end April 4, 1999 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have the video "Robin Hood", and it is an absolute scream! It's a hilarious rendition of the Robin Hood legend, made as hilarious as it is by the antics of the villains: Prince John, Sir Hiss, the Sheriff of Nottingham, and the Sheriff's deputies: Trigger and Nutsy. Well, the Sheriff isn't as funny as the others, but it's funny when he's victimized by the antics of Trigger and Nutsy.pAs for the other four, Sir Hiss is actually the smartest of the group, but he has the misfortune of being the syncophant of Prince John, who won't listen to a word Sir Hiss will say and blames Sir Hiss when things predictably go wrong. As for Prince John himself, he's so immature, childish, and easily duped, he's a scream! Especially when he sucks his thumb and cries "Mommy!" It cracks me up! Trigger's antics with his crossbow, "Old Betsy" also are hilarious, especially when the crossbow goes off! And Nutsy is so stupid, he doesn't even know that he should add a couple of hours to his brain!pIn short, I recommend this film for its humor and adventure. Don't miss it!pBelle Book
